Terms of Use

Effective October 24, 2026

These terms cover your use of our website and the repair, support, and other services The Digital Docs provides. Please read them along with our Privacy Policy.

The short version

  • Back up your data before service. We are careful, but repairs can put data at risk.
  • We tell you about any diagnostic or other fee before we start, and we check with you before going well past our estimate.
  • Most repairs take 24 to 72 hours unless you request emergency service.
  • Payment is due at pickup. Please pick up your device within 30 days.
  • Some links on our site are affiliate links, and we say so where they appear.

1. Agreeing to these terms

"We," "us," and "our" mean The Digital Docs, 157 Elm St., Marblehead, MA 01945. By using our website, submitting a request, or leaving equipment with us, you agree to these terms. When you sign our service agreement, it is part of these terms. If the two ever conflict, the service agreement you signed controls for that job.

2. Using our website

You may use our website to learn about our services, request support, and contact us. Please do not:

  • Submit false requests or information that is not yours to give.
  • Try to break into, overload, or interfere with the site or our forms.
  • Copy the site's content in bulk or use automated tools to collect it.
  • Use the site to break the law or to harm anyone.

The tips and articles on our site are general information, not a substitute for having a professional look at your specific situation. We try to keep everything accurate and current, but we cannot promise it always will be.

3. Requests, estimates, and pricing

  • Submitting a request does not by itself schedule an appointment. We will contact you to confirm next steps.
  • We tell you about any diagnostic, bench, or travel fee before we start work.
  • Estimates are our best judgment based on what we know at the time. Problems sometimes turn out to be different once we open a device. If the work will cost meaningfully more than our estimate, we will contact you for approval before continuing.
  • Prices on our website are the total price for that service unless we clearly say otherwise. Sales tax and the cost of parts you approve are added where they apply.

4. Turnaround time

Unless emergency service is requested, most repairs take between 24 and 72 hours. Waiting on parts, the condition of the device, or the size of the job can make it take longer. We will let you know if your job is waiting on parts and when it is ready for pickup.

5. Your data and backups

Please back up anything important before service. Hard drives fail, devices that arrive damaged can get worse, and some repairs require resetting or replacing storage. We take care with your data, but you agree to hold The Digital Docs harmless for data loss or component damage that happens during service, except where it is caused by our negligence or where the law does not allow this.

How we handle what is on your device is explained in our Privacy Policy.

6. Your authorization

By requesting service, you confirm that you own the equipment or have permission from the owner to have it serviced, and that you are allowed to give us access to any accounts and passwords you share. You authorize us to access the device and those accounts as needed to do the work you asked for.

7. Remote and on site service

For remote support, we connect only during a session you approve with a one time code, and you can end the session at any time. For visits to your home or business, please make sure someone is there to give us access and that the work area is safe.

8. Repair results and payment

  • Equipment is not always repairable. You agree to pay for all time invoiced, whatever the result.
  • Payment is due when you pick up your device or when on site or remote work is finished.
  • Your equipment is released once the invoice is paid.

9. Unclaimed equipment

Please pick up your equipment within 30 days of when we tell you it is ready. We are not responsible for equipment or software left with us more than 30 days. Before we take any action on equipment left longer, we will try to reach you using the phone number and email you gave us. Equipment that is still not claimed may be recycled or disposed of as Massachusetts law allows.

10. Parts and warranties

Parts we install carry their manufacturer's warranty, and we will help you with a warranty claim. Ask us about any warranty on our own work before service begins. Warranties do not cover new physical damage, liquid damage, or problems caused by software or repairs done by someone else after our service.

11. Software and illegal content

We install only properly licensed software, and you are responsible for having licenses for software on your devices. If we find content that appears to involve the sexual exploitation of a child, we will stop work and report it to law enforcement.

12. Recommendations and affiliate links

We recommend products we believe in. Some links on our site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you sign up, at no extra cost to you. We say so on the pages where these links appear. Products and services from other companies are covered by their own terms, prices, and support, not ours.

Testimonials on our site come from real customers, and their results reflect their own experience.

13. Google Maps

Our request form uses Google Maps to suggest addresses as you type. By using that feature, you agree to the Google Maps Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

14. Our content

The text, photos, logos, and design of our website belong to The Digital Docs or are used with permission. You may share links to our pages, but please do not copy our content for commercial use without asking. Other companies' names and logos belong to them.

15. Limits of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, our website is provided "as is," and The Digital Docs is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost business, arising from your use of our website or services. If we are found responsible for a problem with our service, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for that service, unless the law requires otherwise.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under Massachusetts consumer protection law, including Chapter 93A, or any other law that cannot be waived.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Any dispute will be handled in the state courts serving Essex County, Massachusetts, including small claims court where it applies. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. Changes do not affect a job already in progress under the agreement you signed.
